Best WordPress Podcasts to Listen

No matter the role you play in the WordPress community, you need to stay up-to-date on the latest news, tools, and more. Designers, developers, and users alike need to find ways to learn and follow WordPress news.

Listening to podcasts is a great way to keep up with what’s happening in the WordPress world. Use them to learn about new products or WordPress releases. Get tips and tricks for how to use WordPress and related tools better. Or, simply hear from others in the community. Especially for those of us with limited time to read, audio can be absorbed while exercising or driving, making it extremely convenient.

In just a few years, the podcast landscape has changed, with new entrants and some shows cancelled. This article will share a list of some of the best WordPress podcasts you should be listening to.

To find podcasts to recommend, we looked at a few things. First the nature of the content, since it had to be primarily WordPress-focused, of course. Second, the quality of content presented. And lastly availability – because regular and easy to access episodes is just more fun.

There is no question that making selections for a list like this is somewhat subjective. We also needed to keep the list manageable, so it is entirely possible that you may have some other useful podcasts you think should have been included. Which if you do – share them in the comments below! We’d love to check them out.

  1. Matt Medeiros

Wow this is epic – thanks for bringing us all together!

One addition from me, would be the 4 other WordPress web shows I produce over on YouTube.com/slocumstudio

I haven’t converted them to iTunes yet, but the first in the series will be Week in WordPress and PressThis.

    Thanks again!

    • cdils

Thanks for the share, Matt! I hadn’t come across your YouTube shows.

  2. Kim Doyal

Thanks Carrie! TOTALLY honored to be included!
And of course will be subscribing to the other podcasts… I listen to a handful of marketing shows as well.
    Thanks again!
    Kim

  3. Phillip Flores

Thank you for putting this together. Very very useful in keeping abreast of things happening in the WP world.

  4. Dave Jackson

Oh man, you’re missing a GREAT podcast. I love the WordPress plugins A to z with John and Marcus.

  5. Todd E. Jones

I’m curious Carrie, did you come across any that talked about the Genesis Framework much?

    • cdils

It’s not a regular/featured topic on any, but the WPChick mentions it now and then. 🙂 Several of the Copyblogger crew have been featured on the Matt Report, too. I think a Brian Gardner interview is coming up…

  6. Thebestearbuds

Cool, just try THE WORDPRESS CHICK PODCAST.
    Thanks for your posts 🙂

  7. Scott

Ours is fairly new, but the goal of our podcast is to simplify WordPress for photographers.

    • AJ Clarke

Nice, I’ve added it to the list!

  8. John Locke

    Hi AJ:

Thanks for putting together such a comprehensive list. I’ve listened to all of these at one point or another with the exception of Imagely. Matt Report, WP Watercooler, Office Hours FM, and Kim Doyal are in my podcast favorites list.

One other podcast you might consider checking out is WP-Tonic. Full disclosure, I co-host this show. Our midweek show, we usually do a spotlight guest interview, and we’ve had some of the best and brightest from the WordPress community. On the live Saturday show, we do a round table discussion.

Another podcast that deserves consideration is The WP Crowd.

    Thanks again,
    John

    • John Hughes

Thanks for the suggestions, John. 🙂

  9. John Locke

    Hi Carrie:

In the three years since this post, many more WordPress podcasts have hit the airwaves, and a couple on this list have retired. Here’s some additional shows people might want to check out:

    The WP Crowd
    WP-Tonic
    WP Innovator
    Mastermind.fm
    Rethink.fm
    Apply Filters
    Post Status Draft

    • Kyla

All great recommendations John! If you’d ever like to do your own roundup for us let me know 😉

  10. John Overall

Thought I drop in that you might consider adding WP Plugins A to Z to your list, it is one of the longest running Podcasts about WordPress and is available at WPPluginsAtoZ .com

    Thanks
    John Overall

  11. Marine

I would like to add this one too: wpbuilds .com 🙂 They are great!

  12. Dorin

Love the list, I think WP Elevation is one of the best

  13. Tom

Great list. The main concern I see for the WordPress podcasts that are still active is the repetition of the guests. Aside from a few podcasts (like Hallways Chats and Agency Trailblazer) that try to shake things up, it’s literally the same ten people on every podcast every six months. If I could change one thing about the WP podcast ecosystem, that would be it.

  14. Nicole

Really like this one. I would love to suggest it to others also. Thank you.

    • Kyla

Thanks so much! Please DO share it with others – and if you think of any other WordPress podcasts that we should add to our list just let us know.

  15. Micah Dailey

Woot woot! Thanks for mention “Hello, WP!” 😀

  16. Ryan Cameron

Thanks for the post, I will check some of these out 🙂

  17. Giffy Walls

Good! Thanks for sharing these podcasts. I’ve been looking for good ones to list to for WordPress so this post is very beneficial for me.

  18. Abdullah Imran

Very useful and got something new. I like WP Coffee Talk.
    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  19. Nathan Wrigley

I’m a little late to the party here, but I’d like to say a belated thank you for including our podcast in your list.
    I’m most grateful.
