WordPress has just released version 3.1.1 which doesn’t include any HUGE changes (much like the first WP 3.0 release) but does include some important security updates and fixes to help keep your site running smoothly.
WordPress 3.1.1 Updates/Fixes
Some of the updates in WordPress 3.1.1 include (as taken from the official WordPress release blog post):
- Security hardening to media uploads
- Performance improvements
- Fixes for IIS6 support
- Fixes for taxonomy and PATHINFO (/index.php/) permalinks
- Fixes for various query and taxonomy edge cases that caused some plugin compatibility issues
Most importantly this update did address three security issues with the last version of WordPress. So basically make sure to update soon to keep your WordPress site secure.
You can read all about the new WordPress 3.11 update over at the WordPress blog – but it basically just says the same thing I mentioned above.
If you haven’t updated your site go do it! It’s super important to run the latest version of the CMS as all new fixes will help keep your site secure from hackers.
Your WordPress panel should prompt you to install the new version automatically from the dashboard, but if it doesn’t go to “Dashboard –> Updates” and see if you already have the latest version or not.
And like always BACK-UP your stuff before updating. I have never had a problem with the auto updates, but better be safe then sorry. Enjoy!
