Best Resume WordPress Themes

With so much information on the internet it makes complete sense to have your personal resume online as well. But how do you quickly create a CV in time for that big interview tomorrow? Easy – just grab one of the best resume WordPress themes listed below and a simple hosting plan. You can have a CV, online resume or virtual business card style website up in no time.

Important Resume Information

To speed things up it’s a good idea to have your important resume information ready before you start building your website. Make sure to have your typed up resume already on hand or at least a hand written outline of the information you want to include in your online CV. This could include:

  • A quick one or two sentence summary about your objective and/or professional goals
  • Highlights with your key skills and capabilities
  • Education, especially degrees or certifications (make sure to include dates)
  • Work experience with descriptions of responsibilities and accomplishments
  • Work samples which could include project descriptions, photographs, videos, audio clips, links to websites or blog articles you’ve contributed to, etc.
  • Any awards or recognition (if you were on a Forbes list or received an important grant include it here)

Also have your contact information planned out. For some industries you might want to include your address or phone number, but typically social media links and an email address to be used in a contact form is sufficient.

Choosing Hosting

With your information ready, we also suggest purchasing a hosting plan before you pick your theme. We’ve written about the best WordPress hosting before, but to keep things quick and super simple for your online resume we suggest choosing a host that also offers a domain name with your plan. This will makes setup faster since you won’t have to point your domain name over from a third party registrar.

We recommend Bluehost for brand new bloggers or folks building a simple website that won’t be getting a ton of traffic. Since you’ll be creating an online CV (likely with one of the best resume WordPress themes we’ve rounded up below) Bluehost’s shared hosting plan offers more than enough power and features. Bluehost offers one-click WordPress installation, a free domain name (for the first year), free SSL support and more starting at just $2.95/mo.

Get Bluehost for $2.95/mo

This is a great list however, the title misled me – not everyone wanting to put a resume to together is a creative. I have a client that is applying for a PHD and is not a designer, developer or photographer. So what I would also like to see on this list is a theme that is a simply for a resume in any field of expertise, not just for the creatives out there. Thx.

We’ll definitely try to include some simpler options the next time we refresh the post! When this post was first written it was aimed at those in web/tech industries, but I completely agree that nowadays just about anyone could use an online resume. So I’ll keep an eye out for some new designs.
